We each have approximately 5,000 taste buds on the front of our tongues (with each bud housing 50-100 receptor cells!) helping us taste the five main flavor groups: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. That said, basic taste groups only make up part of how we experience flavor – texture, smell, and temperature also play a role!
In this webinar, former professional chef and current Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist Savannah Cass, RDN, LDN, will lead you through flavoring foods and how to balance (and perhaps re-balance!) flavors when cooking at home.
